This series consists of letters, memorandums, reports, travel authorizations, docket reports, and legal briefs relating to industry compliance with codes of fair competition which were set by the Compliance Division in response to the National Recovery Act of June 16, 1933. The records relate to legal proceedings with individuals, companies and trade associations instigated by the Compliance Division to insure that the codes were being fairly applied. Also included are investigative materials used to support the division's position in these court actions. These records were collected and maintained by Alexander C. McKnight as the head of litigation for the Compliance Division.
